本屆喬治用功地將短片類以外的所有入圍影片都看齊了（沒錯，也包括紀錄長片），最佳影片可說是歷年來最難猜的一屆，雖然《神鬼獵人》獲得金球獎好萊塢外籍記者協會和英國學院電影獎的青睞，對美國人更為切身且政治正確的《驚爆焦點》應該還是能突圍而出；阿利安卓崗札雷伊納利圖可望以《神鬼獵人》成為史上第三位連莊最佳導演的人，也是第一位締造此紀錄的非美國人，攝影指導艾曼努耶路貝茲基則可望繼前兩年的《地心引力》和《鳥人》後，成為史上第一位連續三年贏得最佳攝影的人，混音、聲音剪輯和視覺效果應亦能因本片挾帶的氣勢掄元；《瘋狂麥斯：憤怒道》的主要獎項雖輸在類型片弱勢，美術設計、服裝設計、影片剪輯和化妝髮型四項技術獎可說是準囊中物；影帝影后百分之99已底定是李奧納多狄卡皮歐和布麗拉森，席維斯史特龍和艾莉西亞薇坎德的男女配角看來也八九不離十，若真有黑馬，《驚爆焦點》的馬克魯法洛或許能憑影片的氣勢爆冷出線；外語片、動畫長片和紀錄長片也幾近確定是匈牙利的《索爾之子》、《腦筋急轉彎》和《艾美懷絲》；已是第六度入圍的義大利配樂大師顏尼歐莫利可奈終於可望以《八惡人》獲得競賽獎項（他於2007年獲得終生榮譽獎）；獎運正旺的女神卡卡應能和已第八度入圍卻也從未獲獎的金曲創作天后黛安華倫以紀錄片《校園獵場》（暫名）的"Til It Happens to You"拿下原創歌曲；《驚爆焦點》和《大賣空》也是兩個劇本獎賠率最低的準得主。
喬治個人最愛的2015出品影片《因為愛你》本來雙雙在影片、導演兩大項目缺席就已處於劣勢，六個獎項看來也會全數槓龜，但無損於它已被視為年度最佳影片之一；《索爾之子》的蓋札羅里格是2015出品影片中喬治最愛的男演員表演，最愛的三個女演員表演則是將慈母心演得絲絲入扣的《我的兼差媽咪》蕾吉娜卡謝、因造勢策略而被錯置女配角項目的《因為愛你》魯妮瑪拉和實至名歸意外入圍的《45年》夏綠蒂蘭普琳。
